PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – Time is running out for last minute shoppers. The National Retail Federation said nearly one in four people wait until the last minute to complete their Christmas shopping. 24-Hour News 8 visited the Meijer in Plainfield, which is open 24 hours all year except on Christmas.

The store director said he expects to see customers looking flustered and in a rush given the holiday deadline.

That’s why he suggests people who have to shop on Christmas Eve have a plan. He said know what you plan to buy before even getting to the store. Also, have a backup plan in case the item you’re hoping to grab sold out.

“Get a nice list together and come into the store. Look at the hours of the store that’s open,” said store director Chad Clark. “You get into the store and you realize an hour escapes you pretty quickly.”

Here’s a look at some store hours Christmas Eve:

  • Meijer closes at 7 p.m.
  • Target closes at 10 p.m.
  • Best Buy closes at 6 p.m.
  • Walmart closes at 8 p.m.
  • Toys “R” Us closes at 9 p.m.
  • Simon malls close at 6 p.m.
