Detectives searching for truck after deadly hit-and-run

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police said a man was killed in a hit-and-run Saturday night on the city’s southeast side. The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Carl Duke.

According to IMPD, the crash happened near Carson Avenue and Bacon Street shortly before 11 p.m.

Police said a caller reported that a body was lying in the middle of the road. Officers responded to the scene and found Duke suffering from severe injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives believe Duke was hit by a pick-up truck on Carson Avenue. The drive then fled northbound on Carson without stopping to help the victim.

The vehicle is described as a 2004 or 2005 dark-colored Ford Ranger. The truck will have front end damage, specifically to its grill. A passenger side headlight may have damage also, according to detectives.
