INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Parents, police and now lawmakers are looking for answers this weekend after Saturday night’s brawl at Castleton Square Mall.

Police say the fight broke out near the food court and then spilled outside. At first police said a shot was fired, but they now say there’s no evidence to support that.

24-Hour News 8 talked with City-County Council President Maggie Lewis Sunday.

She says she plans on having a community-wide discussion to hopefully prevent similar issues involving young people in the future.

She says there are safe havens all around the city for teens to have fun on the weekends without causing trouble.

“We’re gonna have to come together and really encourage our youth to go to places like that versus hanging out in the malls,” said Lewis

Luckily no one was hurt on Saturday night.

IMPD has added additional patrols to the mall. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
