INDIANAPOLIS (WLFI) – The 57th Miss Indiana State Fair Queen was crowned Sunday at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

Madeline “Mady” Hayden, 18, of Hendricks County, earned the title. She’s the first woman from Hendricks County to be named queen.

“I was hoping to make the top 10. That was like a dream, so this is amazing,” said Hayden. “I know what it’s like to look up to a girl and be excited that she is the queen, so I can’t wait to interact with all the kids and all the fairgoers.”

Hayden is a freshman at Purdue University, where she’s studying speech language and hearing sciences.

Hayden was chosen from 85 contestants, each representing their home county.

This year’s first runner-up went to Miss Johnson County, Alexandra Abney. Second runner-up was Miss LaPorte County, Melissa Smoker. Third runner-up went to Miss Gibson County, Jacinda Thompson, and fourth runner-up was Jessie Earhart, Miss Huntington County.

Miss Kimberly Carcamo from Newton County was crowned Miss Congeniality.

Tippecanoe County’s Riley Mineart was among the finalists.
