Lawrence police arrest two in armed robbery

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Lawrence police arrested two men Monday afternoon who confessed to involvement in an armed robbery at a T-Mobile store.

29-year old Aaron Varner and 23-year old Alan Winn have been initially charged with Armed Robbery and Kidnapping.

Around 1:45 p.m. authorities responded to the T-Mobile store located at 11135 Pendleton Pike after receiving a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, investigators learned that two armed men entered the store and forced everyone inside to the store’s back room. The suspects forced everyone to lay on the floor at gunpoint, and restrained their wrists using zip ties.

According to police, Varner and Winn took cash, phones and tablets from the store, including the personal phone of an employee. The employee that had the personal phone taken used the Locator app on the phone and told investigators that the phone was located at an apartment complex in the 8900 block of Brigadier Drive, near Pendleton Pike and Post Road.

When police arrived, they found Varner and Winn, who admitted to the robbery of the T-Mobile store. Police discovered the cash, phones, and tablets taken from the store inside an apartment, as well as items allegedly from other robberies. Authorities said the men confessed to being involved in multiple other robberies in Marion County.

Authorities said Varner is currently on Parole for previous convictions of Auto Theft, Burglary, and Battery.
