Downtown IMAX theater welcomes Australian horror film

Horror film fanatics rejoice! This weekend, the IMAX Theater at the Indiana State Museum welcomes thrill-seekers as it screens critically acclaimed Australian horror film, The Babadook. babadock

Written and directed by Jennifer Kent, The Babadook is a psychological horror film about a family on the edge of sanity. Six years after her husband’s tragic death, Amelia struggles to discipline her unruly 6 year-old son, Samuel. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill them both, and when a disturbing storybook called ‘The Babadook’ turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the monster from his dreams. As Amelia begins to see glimpses of a sinister presence all around her, it dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may be real.

It is one of those movies that really needs to be seen in a social setting, in a theater with other people. You really don’t want to watch this movie at home, in the dark, by yourself…it is an amazing experience.” — Craig Mince

The Babadook will be screened on Friday, January 9 and Saturday, January 10 at 7:20 p.m  IMAX Theatre at the Indiana State Museum

The film is rated PG-13. For ticketing information, visit provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
