McCutcheon teacher, coach arrested for child solicitation

TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – A McCutcheon teacher and coach was booked into the Tippecanoe County Jail Friday on a preliminary charge of child solicitation, according to jail officials.

Jake Robinson, 37, was booked into the jail shortly after 2 p.m.

Robinson is a physical education teacher and assistant varsity football coach at McCutcheon. He’s been with the district since 2007.

The Tippecanoe School Corporation tells WISH-TV’s sister station WLFI-TV that due to the serious and troubling nature of the charge, he was immediately put on paid administrative leave pending the investigation. McCutcheon has hired a substitute teacher for the classroom to keep Robinson off the property and away from students.

School officials say they are cooperating with the sheriff’s office and conducting their own internal investigation.

Robinson is due in court Monday afternoon.

“TSC is aware of a personnel involving that individual. Due to the serious and troubling nature of the charge, he was immediately put on paid administrative leave pending the investigation. McCutcheon has hired a sub for the classroom so the teacher will not be on property or around students.

“TSC is cooperating fully with law enforcement once the Sheriff’s Office made TSC aware of the charges. We will continue to cooperate and conduct our own internal investigation.”
