Men arrested after home invasion robbery, burglary

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – Police in Bloomington say they have arrested two men after a home invasion armed robbery and a burglary that happened at the end of the year.

Police say on Dec. 11, officers responded to the 300 block of West Riley on the report of a home invasion robbery that had just occurred. The victims told police three men with handguns burst through their door and made threats to shoot them. Two victims were struck by the suspects and then robbed of money.

On Dec. 27, police say a burglary was reported at an apartment in the 1100 block of West 17th Street. The victim said forced entry was made through a sliding glass door and items including two AR-15 assault-style weapons, an Xbox gaming system, games, Air Jordan shoes and hooded sweatshirts were taken.

Detectives determined that 25-year-old Jacob Wyatt and 23-year-old Edward Richardson, both from Bloomington, may have been involved in the home invasion armed robbery. Police obtained search warrants and took both men into custody.

Police say several items were seized when the search warrants were served. According to investigators, those items may be linked to the crimes on Dec. 11 and 27 and also a home invasion where two people were shot.

Wyatt and Richardson have been preliminarily charged with armed robbery, criminal confinement and burglary. Police say more charges and arrests are possible.
