IFD: Rope pulls man under bridge to safety

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man underneath a bridge was pulled to safety and transported to the hospital, according to the Indianapolis Fire Department.

Officials say the 53-year-old man was living under a bridge at Oliver Avenue and W. McCarty Street. Because of an illness, the man could not get out from under the bridge and called 911.

A rope and basket system was used to help the man.

The man was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.
