Fire on Trowbridge under investigation

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A fire at a vacant house on the 300 block of Trowbridge Street early Tuesday is under investigation.

Crews were dispatched around 6 a.m. to the single-story building. The fire caused $30,000 worth of damage, according to Indianapolis Fire Department officials.

The fire was under control within 20 minutes and no injuries were reported, but officials have not yet determined the cause.

This was the second time in as many days that IFD was at the home. Crews responded Monday to neighbor complaints of smoke smells coming from the home, but failed to find the source. There were no working smoke detectors in the home and officials filed an unsafe housing report.

According to officials, neighbors also saw potential trespassing activity Monday prior to the first reports of the smoke smells.
