INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The host committee responsible for the 2015 NCAA Men’s Final Four unveiled plans for fan entertainment Tuesday afternoon.
Indiana Sports Corporation is leading the efforts surrounding the event at Lucas Oil Stadium and said activities are going to be bigger this year than in 2010, the last time Indianapolis hosted the Final Four.
“For the Final Four to be here in the state that in my opinion is the greatest basketball state in the country, I think is a tremendous partnership,” Damon Bailey, Butler University women’s basketball assistant coach, said Tuesday at a press conference. Bailey, who played for Indiana University in the 1992 NCCA Men’s Final Four in Minneapolis, said he is looking forward to Indianapolis hosting the tournament.
Some 60,000 people are expected to travel to the city for the games.
“It just makes the city great. It buzzes the whole time it’s going on,” said Indiana Sports Corp Senior Vice President Susan Baughman.
Final Four weekend tips-off April 3. Starting on that day, the Final Four Fan Fest is going to be the main source of entertainment outside of the tournament action. At the four-day festival people can meet legendary coaches and former college stars, get autographs and participate in a variety of sports activities, including basketball and lacrosse. The annual Final Four Pep Rally will also be held and will feature the bands and cheerleaders from the four participating NCAA teams. Tickets go on sale Monday, Jan. 26.
April 3 will also tip-off a free, three-day, outdoor music event. The NCAA March Madness Music Festival will be held on the lawn at White River State Park. National and regional music artists will be announced in late February.
Kids will also be able to participate in youth clinics at four different locations where they will receive sport instruction from NCAA coaches and receive information on fitness and healthy lifestyles. 3200 kids can also take part in the Final Four Dribble and dribble their way through downtown Indianapolis.
This will be the seventh time Indianapolis will host the NCAA Men’s Final Four. It will be one of the largest sports-related events in the city since the 2012 Super Bowl.
The Men’s Final Four will be played on April 4 with the championship game on April 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium. Fans can watch the teams practice the Friday before the national semifinal games.
Registration is open for the youth activities. For a complete list of events, times and prices click here.
