Man sentenced after police pursuit, crash

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man will spend six years on home detention and four years on probation after he pleaded guilty to leading police on a chase.  Carson was also accused and pleaded guilty to hitting two people on a motorcycle during that chase.

In May 2014, Robert Carson, 30, of Indianapolis was pulled over by an IMPD officer.  At first, police say he complied, but then took off after the officer asked for his license and registration.

Carson hit a motorcycle at Raymond Street and Keystone Avenue during the pursuit. A man and woman were on the motorcycle at the time.

Both passengers were taken to the hospital but police said neither person was seriously injured.

Two IMPD squad cars also crashed during the pursuit, in an attempt to avoid crashing into the suspect’s car. Police said Officer Carmichael and Officer Anderson were taken to Methodist Hospital in serious condition, but the two were released the next day.
