4 arrested, officials searching for last suspect in alleged kidnapping case

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Four suspects have been taken into custody after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office reports of an alleged kidnapping and criminal confinement. But, officials are still searching for one more suspect.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported deputies had responded to a home on State Road 340 near County Road 650 West in Brazil on Dec. 19. The caller told officials a male was in the driveway without shoes or a coat.

The male subject reported he had been battered but when deputies arrived at the scene the subject had fled. They searched the area and were not able to find him.

Ten days later the Clay County Sheriff’s Office got a phone call from police officers in Illinois with information in regards to the same case.

The officers in Illinois had responded to a call of possible shots fired. “The officers advised that the suspects that had made this report believed that this was due to the fact that they had witnessed a batter in Clay County, Indiana,” the report from Clay County read.

Detectives from Clay County traveled to Illinois to conduct interviews with these subjects.

It was then the detectives had determined a kidnapping of an adult male took place in Brazil and the male had been taken to a residence on CR 650 W in Brazil. Detectives also believed he had been battered and held at that residence against his will.

“The victim had to jump through a window of the residence to escape the subjects that were holding him against his will,” the report continued. “In fear the male victim fled the area.”

The subjects involved in this case were Tracey Burk, 45, Richelle Moize, 39, Taylor Moize, 21, Corey Simonson, 26 and Levi Williams, 29. All subjects were from Brazil.

Richelle Moize, Taylor Moize and Simonson were located on Jan. 23 and taken into custody. Williams was later located and arrested on Jan. 26. All four are facing charges of conspiracy to commit kidnapping, kidnapping, criminal confinement, robbery and aggravated battery. Their bond has been set at $100,000 with no 10 percent allowed.
