HENRY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Three were arrested early Tuesday morning after drugs and cash were discovered during an Interstate 70 traffic stop in Henry County.
Indiana State Police say the driver, 27-year-old Michael James, of Indianapolis, was driving westbound at 94 mph when he was pulled over for speeding around 1 a.m. After talking to James and the others inside the car, the ticketing trooper called in a K-9 unit to search the vehicle for contraband, according to a news release.
The K-9 unit and ISP discovered narcotics in the car, including a half kilogram of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a small amount of heroin, according to ISP. Troopers say they also found a loaded handgun and $3,800 cash.
ISP arrested James and his passengers, 23-year-old Morgan Paige Watters, of Indianapolis, and 34-year-old Miguel Hiarmes, of Edinburg, Texas, on preliminary charges of possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. James also faces charges of heroin possession and driving with a suspended license.
All three have been booked into Henry County Jail.
