Early morning fire sends firefighter to hospital

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A fire in the 9000 block of Drakeford Drive sent one fire fighter to the hospital.

Firefighters responded to a north side double residence fire just after 5 a.m..

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, the fire started in the attic of the house.

After arriving on scene, IFD was able get the fire under control and eventually extinguish it within an hour.

IFD say damages are estimated at $60,000.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The firefighter was taken to St. Vincent Hospital with a slight injury.

No other injures were reported.
