Inmate charged for beating prison employee

NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WISH) – A New Castle Correctional Facility (NCCF) prisoner has been charged with beating a prison employee.

According to the Henry County Sheriff’s office, the incident occurred on Nov. 29, 2014, after an employee of the prison vendor caught Robert Hudson, 45, stealing two pounds of sugar from the NCCF Kitchen. The employee then fired Hudson from his job in the kitchen.

Shortly thereafter, Hudson allegedly returned to the prison employee’s office and began punching her in the head and face.

Hudson was stopped by correctional officers, but not before reportedly beating the female employee unconscious.

The woman was taken and treated at the Henry County Hospital.

Since the November incident, Hudson has been transferred to the Wabash Correctional Facility.

The Henry County Prosecutor’s office has charged Hudson with battery resulting in serious bodily injury and battery with moderate bodily injury. One of the charges is a Level 5 felony, with the possibility of six years in prison.
