Local group challenges students to help others

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – One local organization is asking students to lend a helping hand and be a friend to someone in need.

Best Buddies kicked off their annual Friendship Walk Saturday meant to raise money for those with intellectual and development disabilities at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center.

Best Buddies is a group with the purpose of making school a much nicer and friendlier environment for those who with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through a series of activities including mentoring and leadership opportunities, Best Buddies works to foster a feeling of camaraderie and inclusion.

Students were shown how the Friendship Walk program works through a series of helpful and instructional workshops.
