Carmel senior heads to World Championship for Twirling

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – One of nation’s best baton twirlers resides right here in Central Indiana, and in the next few months, she’ll fight to prove she’s the best in the world.

Carmel senior Adi Bebo will head to Italy in April to compete in the World Championship for Twirling, after winning her first national championship up in South Bend this summer.

“What I really love about the sport is, it’s ever changing,” said Bebo. “There’s an unlimited amount of possible tricks you can try. You can create things. You can evolve and develop them and really make it your own. The fact that I don’t really have a limit to what I can accomplish is really inspiring.”

Bebo started twirling when she was nine after seeing pictures of her grandmother who was a twirler growing up. She has a grueling training regimen, practicing every day before school at 5 a.m.
