Columbus high school student arrested

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Columbus East High School student, Jacob “TJ” Acton, 18, was arrested on Thursday for threatening a staff member with a knife.

Acton had his cell phone taken away by a teacher after he was caught sending text messages in the classroom.

Officials say he then threatened staff and school counselors with a knife he had concealed, 24-Hour News 8 news partner The Republic reports.

The principal was able to talk Acton into surrendering the knife and no one was injured in the incident.

Acton was being held Friday in the Bartholomew County Jail.
