Blustery, bitter cold on Valentine’s Day

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH/AP) – A combination of bitter cold temperatures and gusty wind will produce dangerous wind chill values beginning Saturday evening and lasting through mid-morning Sunday.

Wind chill values could range from -10 to -20 degrees. In addition, flurries and scattered snow showers could reduce visibility at times, so use caution if you will be out for Valentine’s activities.

High temps will stay bitter cold Sunday, with most places only reaching the middle teens for high temperatures.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning for northwest Indiana. The weather service says the warning runs through 10 p.m. Saturday because wind gusts of up to 45 mph are creating whiteout conditions and lake effect snow is expected to drop up to 7 inches of snow in some areas. The snow is accompanied by bitterly cold wind chills that the weather service says can lead to frost bite in 30 minutes or less.

The Storm Track 8 Team will keep you up to date through this latest round of arctic air.
