Near record-setting cold sets in

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Near record-setting cold will settle into the state Thursday night.

Temperatures only reached 8 degrees Thursday afternoon. Another frigid night is on its way, with temperatures dropping below zero.

That near-record low Thursday night in Indianapolis will be -7 degrees. The record was set in 1885 when temperatures dropped to -8 degrees.

More than 100 schools decided to either close or run on a delay Friday because of the cold. Check the full list here. 

There is a bit of a warm up on Friday. Highs will be in the teens and low 20s.

Milder air arrives on Saturday before the next chance for snow.
