The Patachou Foundation will once again host a speaker’s forum designed to inspire community conversations and initiate solutions. This year’s Forum’s speaker is Veronika Scott, Founder and President of The Empowerment Plan.
The Patachou Foundation’s main mission is to feed children who live with daily with food insecurity but those issues, food insecurity, homelessness, poverty they are all interlaced.” Martha Hoover, founder The Patachou Foundation
Similar to The Patachou Foundation, Veronika Scott created an organization from the ground up centered on a single idea: to design a coat specifically for the homeless. The self-heated and waterproof coat folds into a backpack for storage of personal items and transforms into a sleeping bag to be used at night. Veronika’s idea has developed into a system of empowerment in which homeless women are taught the skills necessary to make these coats, giving them an opportunity to earn money, find a place to live, and gain back their independence and dignity, not only for themselves but for their families.
Money raised from the February 19 event will support the foundation’s mission to feed healthy after-school meals to at-risk and food insecure children in central Indiana. The Patachou Foundation’s Second Annual Speakers Forum promises to be as equally compelling as its first year’s event.
The Patachou Foundation’s Speakers Forum is being held on at Park Tudor School, 7200 N. College Ave., Indianapolis. Tickets are $50 general admission; $150 cocktail reception & general admission. For more information go the their website at www.thepatachoufoundation.org
