Coroner says Indiana man drowned in creek after truck crash

FRANKFORT, Ind. (AP) – A coroner has ruled that a central Indiana man found dead in a river drowned after his truck crashed during a snow squall and entered the river.

Clinton County Coroner Amanda Abbott said Friday an autopsy did not reveal any sudden medical issue that could explain how 79-year-old William Yoder of Rossville ended up Wildcat Creek.

The Journal & Courier reports investigators are awaiting toxicology results expected in six to eight weeks.

Clinton County sheriff Maj. Joe Mink says it was snowing heavily on Feb. 4 when Yoder’s truck left Indiana 39/U.S. 421, traveled down the berm and entered the river.

Mink says Yoder made it out of his truck, but couldn’t reach the creek’s banks.

His body was found the following day after his wife reported him missing.
