IMPD patrol horse diagnosed with skin cancer

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s help after a 13-year-old patrol horse was diagnosed with skin cancer.

Police say “Francis” Jake, a Percheron/Appaloosa Cross, has been with IMPD’s Mounted Patrol Unit for 11 years.

After multiple attempts to rid him of the disease, it’s at the stage where he needs an invasive surgery.

IMPD is looking for assistance from the public in helping cover medical bills for the surgery. If you would like to donate, click here, or visit the Mounted Patrol Unit office located at 77 North Tibbs Avenue.
