Trial begins for a man accused of stabbing 2 with a screwdriver

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – In Clinton County, the trial begins for a man accused of attacking a woman and her great-granddaughter with a sharpened screwdriver.

Jury selection is underway Monday at the Clinton County Courthouse for the trial of 63-year-old Reginald Robinson. Robinson faces eight charges including two attempted murder charges for the alleged stabbing of then 72-year-old Gladys Brewer and her then 4-year-old great-granddaughter Madyn Lanum in 2013.

According to court documents, the stabbing happened when Brewer and Lanum were leaving the Frankfort Community Public Library. Brewer told investigators, Robinson stabbed the little girl multiple times in the face with a screwdriver.

Lanum lost the sight in one of her eyes because of the attack. Brewer was also injured.

Opening arguments in the jury trial were expected to start Monday at 1 p.m.
