IFD uses oxygen masks to save dogs after fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Two dogs named Elsa and Pillow are OK after firefighters saved them from a house fire Thursday night.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Parker. Firefighters arrived and found fire in the basement of the home. It took them about 10 minutes to bring flames under control.

Four people escaped without injury. Firefighters found the dogs during their primary search of the home and brought them outside.

Using the Project Breathe Mask, firefighters were able to restore the dogs’ breathing to normal levels.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damages have been estimated at $30,000.
