Cavaliers will face Pacers without James, Irving

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Cleveland will be without LeBron James and Kyrie Irving on Friday night at Indiana.

Coach David Blatt says he is holding out James to give him some extra rest. Blatt says James complained of back soreness and general soreness after the Cavaliers’ home victory over Golden State on Thursday night. James scored a season-high 42 points and had 11 rebounds.

James has missed time this season with knee and back injuries. Against Golden State, he stretched out on the floor instead of sitting on the bench when he had a rest in the fourth quarter.

Irving didn’t make the trip so he could get an MRI on his injured left shoulder. Blatt says he does not believe the injury is too serious.

Cleveland also will be without forward Shawn Marion. He has a strained left hip.

Cleveland has won 18 of its last 20, with the first of those two losses coming at Indiana three weeks ago.
