Victim of Lawrence hit-and-run improving

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) – Several tips have come in for a hit-and-run investigation in Lawrence. However, police say they are still searching for a person of interest in the case.

Lawrence Police Department hoped to get tips from the public about the identity of a driver that ran over a person, leaving them critically injured.

Although several tips came in, police are still not sure what the make or model of the car is.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in the 8700 block of Pendleton Pike, which is between North Post Road and East 46th Street. A video captured from a nearby business showed the horrific scene.

Initial evidence made investigators believe they should be looking for a Ford or Saturn make, now they believe it could be any make of vehicle.

The victim in this incident is showing signs of improvement, according to police. However, they are still considered to be in critical condition. Investigators say the “shadow of death appears to have passed,” at least for now.

Police say he was able to communicate with family, however does not recall anything about the incident.

Anyone with information should call Lawrence Police at 317-545-7575. Anonymous tips can be given to Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
