Police continue investigation into Vigo Co shooting
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – The investigation continues into a police action shooting on Feb. 25.
Indiana State Police say the Indiana State Police Crime Scene Investigator and Detectives did not find a visible weapon in Alexander Long’s car.
No other weapon was found in the car either.
Officials did find two rounds of ammunition, construction type tools and drug paraphernalia.
The name of the Terre Haute police officer involved in the shooting is expected to be released once the official report is turned in to the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
Indiana State Police detectives continue to interview witnesses.
The investigation is expected to take two more weeks.

Just before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a short pursuit that ended with an officer involved shooting near 25th and Poplar. The suspect was pronounced dead at 6 p.m.

The US Marshal’s Service Task Force, Terre Haute Police Department Street Crimes Unit and Terre Haute Police Department were searching for a suspect who was wanted on a rape warrant out of Vigo County.
The warrant charged the suspect with two counts of rape, one count of criminal confinement, and one count of domestic battery.
This suspect was also a suspect profiled in our Crime Stoppers segment, Wabash Valley’s Most Wanted and a US Marshal confirmed with News 10 this suspect was Alexander Long.
Officers located the suspect near 25th and Poplar where he then fled the area. When attempting to ‘box in the suspect vehicle with police vehicles’ the suspect began ramming police vehicles.
“Officers attempted to gain access to the vehicle while demanding the suspect stop attempting to flee,” Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts stated in a press release. “Officers broke out the side windows as the suspect refused repeated commands to stop and surrender and attempted to move forward and backwards with the Pontiac, again striking police vehicles.”
