2 ISP vehicles struck during snow fall

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Two Indiana State Police cars were hit while they were responding to two separate crashes.

The first crash happened just before 1 a.m. while a trooper was working a property damage crash at the 29.4 mile marker on Interstate 465. While the trooper was outside of his vehicle a separate car lost control of their car and hit the police cruiser. The trooper was not injured.

The driver, Antoine Dangerfield, was arrested for an OWI felony. Dangerfield was taken to the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center

The second crash happened around 1:20 p.m. Sunday while a trooper was working a property damage crash on I-65 near the ramp to 38th Street. The officer was in the right lane when a driver lost control of their vehicle and struck the right rear of the police car.

ISP said the trooper was in the vehicle when it was hit. He complained of soreness but was able to finish the crash report and his shift.

The driver, 27-year-old Crystal Ruiz was driving on a suspended license and had an outstanding Marion County warrant for driving while suspended. Ruiz was arrested and taken to the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center.
