Traffic stop leads to arrest

PUTNAM COUNTY,Ind. (WISH) – A late-night traffic stop in Putnam County lead to the arrest of an Indianapolis man.

According to Indiana State Police, Cameron Farris, of Indianapolis, was traveling more than 90 miles-per hour on I-70 .

When the officer attempted to pull the 2014 Dodge Avenger being driven by Farris over, the vehicle accelerated to nearly 100 mph.

The vehicle eventually pulled over near mile marker 32.

According to police, the officer initially smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Nearly three grams of a substance believed to be marijuana and a marijuana cigarette was found in the vehicle.

Police say Farris also failed field sobriety tests.

He was then transported to Putnam County Hospital where he tested positive for marijuana.

Farris has been charged with operating while intoxicated – a controlled substance, operating while intoxicated-endangerment, reckless driving, and possession of marijuana.

He is being held in the Putnam County Jail

Two passengers in the vehicle were cited with possession of marijuana and then later released.
