Group works on plan to improve safety, quality of life for Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A task force gathered Tuesday morning to look for ways to increase safety and improve the quality of life for people around Indianapolis.

The group is part of the “Your Life Matters” initiative. It is Mayor Greg Ballard’s part of a program that was started by President Obama called “My Brother’s Keeper”.

The group is working on a plan of action, based on information in a report that has 48 recommendations on how to remove barriers that currently exist for African American males between the ages of 14-24.

“We’re excited, because today we have a lot of the stakeholders here and the experts who are in session just making sure we’re working on strategy’s in order to move hose recommendations forward,” said Tanya Bell President and CEO IN Black Expo.

The task force has until April 15th to present its plan of action to the President.
