Fallen Lawrence Police officer to be remembered Thursday
LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) – On March 5, 2005, Lawrence Police Officer Craig Herbert lost his life in the line of duty when a stolen vehicle crashed into his squad car during a police pursuit.
On Thursday, March 5, 2015, at 11 a.m., the Lawrence Police Department will remember Herbert in a short memorial service at the site of the accident at East 45th Street and North Franklin Road. Mayor Dean Jessup will also provide a dedication.
Herbert has been the only on-duty death of an officer in LPD history.
LPD stated that traffic near the memorial site will be redirected for a short time while the event occurs.
The service is open to the public.
