Indiana legislators drilled in fire discipline

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – Eight Indiana legislators found out what it was like to be a firefighter on Wednesday.

The Professional Firefighters Union of Indiana (PFFUI) trained eight Indiana officials to be firefighters at the Hamilton County Training Center in Noblesville.

PFFUI President Tom Hanify stated he wanted to “give the decision makers in Indiana a better understanding of the challenges that firefighters face every day.”

The eight legislators included; Senator Randy Head, Senator Brandt Hershman, Senator Jeff Raatz, Representative Sue Errington, Representative Cindy Kirchhofer, Representative Peggy Mayfield, Representative Chuck Moseley and Representative Donna Schaibley.

After a hearty breakfast, medical checks, group assignments and gear sizing and mask fits, the brave eight were briefed on what their vigorous day would entail.

The training exercises included a car accident, cardiac event, and a search and rescue.
