Logansport police arrest 2 after finding 26 grams of heroin

LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) – Logansport police said two men are sitting in jail after a traffic stop turned up heroin.

Officers pulled over 20-year-old Chantz Marlatt, of Francesville, Ind., and 19-year-old Edward Hurst, of Logansport, Ind., Tuesday around 2 p.m. in Logansport.

After a K-9 indicated the presence of narcotics, police said they searched the vehicle and found 26 grams of heroin in individual packages. Investigators said the drugs seized have a street value of nearly $6,500. Other items found in the car included hypodermic needles, other paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Both Hurst and Marlatt were taken to the Cass County Jail. Both men were arrested for possession of heroin, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a syringe and maintaining a common nuisance.

Marlatt faces an additional preliminary charge of dealing in heroin.
