Two people killed in Ashboro collision

ASHBORO, Ind. (WTHI) – Police and emergency crews were working a double fatal accident in Clay County on Wednesday morning.

Dispatch confirmed the accident happened on State Road 59 just south of County Road 200 North and that two people are dead.

Clay County deputies said a car heading southbound on State Road 59 crossed the center line hitting a truck traveling northbound. The car struck the truck head on causing the car to burst into flames.

The driver of truck was taken to St. Vincent hospital and later died at the hospital. Police confirmed the driver of the car died on scene.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that State Road 59 at Ashboro could be closed for several hours while crews clear the scene.
