K-Cups inventor regrets creating them

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – In recent years, Keurig K-Cups have become the new, quick way to make a cup of joe in the morning, but the man who invented the single serve pods says he regrets creating them.

John Sylvan told The Atlantic that K-Cups create too much waste because you can’t recycle them.

He says he thought they’d be used in offices where people like different brews and get coffee at different times.

Sylvan says he can’t do much about it – he sold his interest in the company in 1997.

Keurig has gotten a lot of criticism over the last few months including online petitions. The company has promised to make its pods 100 percent recyclable by 2020.
