Community steps up after bus robbed

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Ben Davis High School students attending a practice competition at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Thursday night were left in shock when they returned to their bus.

When they started to board, everything inside it was gone. This left them puzzled because the doors were locked and there was no damage on the outside.

The IMPD police report had a long list of items that were stolen; cell phones, backpacks and a school issued laptop. What happened spread quickly.

People from all over called asking where they could donate. The following morning after the incident, the students were handed new gear. They were also given extra time to resubmit homework that was from their backpacks.

“These are good kids,” said Mary Lang from Wayne Township Schools. “They are involved in activities and work hard. We live in a great community, people wanted to help.”
