Lafayette school employee arrested for child molestation

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A 19-year old employee with the Lafayette School Corporation is in jail, accused of sex crimes against a child.

Josemaria Gonzalez was taken into custody at on Friday. He worked at Earhart Elementary as a paraprofessional.

Lafayette police told News 18, Gonzalez has been preliminary charged with child molestation and sexual battery. The victim is 13 years old.

LSC Superintendent Les Huddle said the incident is not related to the school and no students or faculty were affected.

Gonzalez was arrested at the Lafayette Police Department and taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
