Police: Woman, child abducted in Wisc. found in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police in Indianapolis say they’ve found a woman and child who were allegedly abducted in Wisconsin.

Milwaukee Police said the abduction happened on Thursday. A caller told police a 22-year-old Milwaukee woman and her 18-month-old daughter were taken against their will by Duane Jones, who is the child’s father.

Investigators in Milwaukee worked with relatives of the woman to figure out that the victims were being driven to Indianapolis. IMPD found the victims in a hotel shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday evening, and took Jones into custody.

The woman and the child were not hurt and will head back to Milwaukee.

IMPD spent some of the evening looking through their car in a parking lot of a fireworks store near a hotel on West Washington Street, just west of Interstate 465.

Jones was arrested on a preliminary charge of criminal confinement. Milwaukee authorities obtained a warrant for Jones for kidnapping, for which he was arrested as well.

Jones was transported to the Adult Processing Center.

The investigation is on-going.
