Woman killed in Tippecanoe Co. train, car collision

FOUNTAIN COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Police release further information on a West Point woman who was involved in a fatal collision with a train Friday morning.

Fountain County sheriff’s deputies said the crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on County Line Road – between Tippecanoe and Fountain counties – near West Point, Ind.

The driver of the truck was 34-year-old Rachael Logan, of West Point. Logan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said Logan was heading south on County Line Road when, for an unknown reason, her truck pulled in front of the train at the railroad crossing. Investigators said the train struck the truck and pushed the vehicle approximately 40 yards down the tracks.

A witness, who was behind Logan at the time of the incident, told police she saw and heard the train and watched the truck slowly pull into the train’s path.

Deputies said that crossing has no lights or stop-arms.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office.
