Concealed carry fashion show gives options for women gun owners

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – As more women apply for gun permits, the push is on to make firearms and accessories more fashionable and safe.

A national group called “The Well-Armed Woman” hosted “Fashion and Firearms, a Concealed Carry Extravaganza” downtown Saturday. The event featured sale booths, self-defense demonstrations, guest speakers, and even a concealed carry fashion show.

Organizers say women carry differently than men.

“Not every woman’s outfit has a waistband. Sometimes you want to wear a cocktail dress and sometimes you might be wearing shorts and a t-shirt. There’s no reason just because of your lifestyle or where you’re going that day or what you’re wearing that you shouldn’t be able to be protecting yourself,” said Cathy Brown Fashion and Firearms Event Coordinator

The focus was on how to do that safely. The group says people came from as far away as Arizona, Louisiana and South Carolina to take part.
