Columbus motorcyclist involved in serious crash

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – According to police, a morning motorcycle accident sent a man to an Indianapolis trauma center.

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department were called to a serious motorcycle crash at 7:37 a.m. on Monday. The crash occurred on Della Street, just south of Base Road in Columbus.

Responding police reported that that Devan Earl Fields, 32, of Columbus, slid on wet, frozen pavement, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle, skating over 175 feet before slamming onto the pavement and sliding further. Fields was then apparently thrown off the motorcycle, police say.

Emergency personnel transported Fields to Columbus Regional Health (CRH), with Life-Line on standby. After he was stabilized at CRH, he was air-lifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital Trauma Center.

Witnesses reported that no other vehicles were involved with this crash.
