Former DPW employee sentenced for theft

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A former Marion County Department of Public Works (DPW) employee accused of stealing scrap metal was sentenced on Thursday.

Terry Lee was found guilty on March 5 on one count of theft and one count of official misconduct, both class D felonies.

Lee will be on probation for a year. He will be obligated to fulfill 80 community service hours and has also been fined $628.68.

Supervisors with DPW mechanics became suspicious after an investigation traced discrepancies back to the accused, beginning as early as August 2013.

Lee was accused of stealing and selling brake drums, brake rotors, fire apparatus pumps and copper wire.
