Former Lafayette school employee charged in child molestation case
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A 19-year-old former Lafayette School Corporation employee faces six counts of child molesting.
According to court documents, Josemaria Gonzalez met the victim at her bus stop on a regular basis beginning in December, then started kissing her and touching her inappropriately on a regular basis until last month.
As our sister station WLFI reported last week, the girl is not a student at the Lafayette School Corporation.
The victim also told an investigator with the Department of Child Services that there was one incident at Gonzalez’s home on Cor Dale Court when she was 12 years old. She says the two kissed and Gonzalez pulled her on top of him on the couch.
The LSC board terminated Gonzalez’s employment with the district Monday evening. Gonzalez had been hired as a paraprofessional in December.
A bond hearing for Gonzalez was set for late Wednesday afternoon at the Tippecanoe County Jail.
