Police: Body near Fort Wayne train tracks

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A police investigation is underway after a body was found near train tracks in downtown Fort Wayne.

Police responded to the call on Wednesday. Police said the body of a man was found by railroad workers.

Fort Wayne Police Department Public Information Officer Michael Joyner said the body had an ID on it and did not appear to have been there for long.

Joyner said it was too early in the investigation to determine the nature of the death.

Trains were stopped for a short time while police investigated the scene.

An autopsy will be performed on Thursday to determine the cause and manner of death.
