Ex-NFL player’s brother sentenced in drug-trafficking case

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – The brother of a former NFL player has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for his involvement in a drug-dealing operation.

The FBI announced Friday that 35-year-old Michael Fabini would also serve five years supervised release under a plea deal in which he admitted to charges of drug trafficking conspiracy and engaging in a monetary transaction in property derived from drug trafficking.

Fabini also will forfeit $5 million, his Fort Wayne home, undisclosed cash amounts he has in a brokerage account and college savings plans, a wine collection and other property.

Fabini was indicted in early 2013 after a raid on his home and other properties in and around Fort Wayne. He is the younger brother of former New York Jets offensive lineman Jason Fabini.
