Paul George still trying to get in shape for comeback

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Pacers swingman Paul George is not expected to start playing this weekend, but he is getting closer to playing shape.

The two-time All-Star had been hoping to return either Saturday against Boston or Monday against Toronto. Coach Frank Vogel says George is not quite ready yet. But Vogel says the delay is not the result of any sort of setback.

Indiana’s best player has missed the entire season after his right leg snapped when he ran into a basketball stanchion Aug. 1.

George began doing full workouts Feb. 26. Since then, he says he’s been moving better and his defense has steadily improved. He remains hopeful of playing this season, but he has not established another timetable for the anticipated return.
