Three still hospitalized after charter bus crash

CLARK COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – All but two of the passengers and the driver involved in Thursday afternoon’s bus crash have been released from the hospital.

Sixteen members of the Indiana Institute of Technology (Indiana Tech) men’s and women’s bowling team were traveling to the United States Bowling Congress Sectional Competition in Smyrna, Tennessee, when the bus they were riding in flipped over on I-65 near Henryville, Indiana.

All of the students who were hospitalized at Scott Memorial Hospital were released as of 10 a.m. Friday.

The driver of the bus, Rex Altenburg, 76, the team coach’s wife, Jeannine Secrist, 68, and Indiana Tech student Michaelia Kemp, 18, all of Fort Wayne, continue to remain hospitalized at University of Louisville Hospital.

According to police, all three are in satisfactory to fair condition.
