Dozens speak out against proposed IPL rate hike

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — There was a chance tonight for the public to make comments about the proposed rate hike for Indianapolis Power and Light.

Dozens of people came out tonight and spoke out against the proposed hike.

IPL is asking to increase rates by more than $67 million a year. That would translate to about $8 more a month for a typical customer.

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission held tonight’s session and will be deciding soon whether or not to grant that increase.

Those that could not make it out to tonight’s meeting have been asked to comment in writing.
